Dancing Puppets

Today’s fun-filled activity is the making of- and playing with- dancing puppets!

Start by downloading and printing out the puppet images or by drawing your own.

If you draw your own, be sure to make the holes the right size for fingers to get through. I’ve found that for little fingers a 5/8 inch hole is usually plenty large. Grown up fingers need a hole at least a full inch wide.

Whether you draw your own or used print outs, it’s a good idea to glue the image to a sheet of construction paper, cardstock, or some heavy-weight paper to help keep your puppet rigid.

Cut out the puppets.

Hint: To cut out the circles, try folding the puppet about halfway through the circles. (Try to avoid permanently creasing the paper). Make a small snip with the scissors, just large enough to fit a scissor through. Then, unfold the puppet and cut out the circle from inside.

Stick your fingers through the holes and make your puppet dance!
